Otago Rail Trail
Finally, an opportunity to escape from work and kids!

Looking for new and semi-interesting ways to bore the family and friends, I thought I'd chuck the photos onto the web.

You're looking at them.

Click on any thumbnail that looks vaguely interesting to you to see a larger version, click outside the enlarged image or the close box to close (not the best way to do this, but it's an experiment).

We arrive in Queenstown to pleasant weather and an afternoon of rest. Actually, we get off the plane and the phone immediately rings - a client's server has crashed, their tech support is on holidays (what a co-incidence) and we are the only support he can raise. I spend nearly 45 minutes on the phone getting him going again and I'm determined to turn off the mobiles as much as possible.

The rest of the day is a bit more relaxed, simply wandering around, drinking coffee, looking at signs pointing the wrong way and just chilling out.

and buying last minute things that we need, like shoes!

Fortunately, the view from the hotel window isn’t at all bad.

While we don't plan to do the tourist thing, we do wander through the shops where we find a Golliwog. Thinking about how sensitive this is in some areas, I have a look at the label and it's made in Australia. I had one of these when I was a kid (my Grandmother knitted it for me) and it somehow doesn't surprise me that these are OK there!
